about
Dust is based on a poem written by H.H.Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi when she was just seven years old. I performed an early version of the song in July 2011 at the Culture of the Spirit Festival in Cabella, Italy, but for this recording, I was extremely privileged to be joined by two amazing musicians:
Leo Vertunni (who produced and featured on his father Victor Vertunni’s 2011 CD ‘William Blake’s Songs of Innocence & of Experience’ which I was also involved with)
Thomas Gray (guitarist, composer & musical director who has played with artists including Brian May, Roger Taylor, the BBC Concert Orchestra, Steve Balsamo, Richard Niles and Philip Pope. He also helped me to mix and produce the track.)
Dust is dedicated to H.H. Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi whose divine vision was the emancipation of humanity and whose lifetime’s work it was to awaken the seed of divinity in every human being, enabling us to fulfill our soul’s potential.
lyrics
I want to be smaller
Like a dust particle
Which moves with the wind
It goes everywhere
Can go
Sit on the head of the king
Or can go
And fall at the feet of someone
And it can go
And sit everywhere
But I want to be a particle of dust
That is fragrant
That is nourishing
That is enlightening
(Italian translation as used on track):
Voglio essere
Più piccola
Come una particella di polvere
Che si muove con il vento
Ovunque si posa
Voglio essere
Una particella di polvere
Che è fragrante
Che nutre
Che illumina
